This new work belongs to what I think of as Journey paintings - paintings that mark the moving out from one stage to another, in this case from school to ... an unscripted future.
This painting was commissioned to celebrate the graduation of a Perth Modern student. A dedicated musician, he walks away from the viewer. He wears his band shirt and tie. His trousers have been replaced by boardshorts and his shoes discarded.
The musical notes are from Haydn’s Trumpet Concerto.
