This small painting is for the International Women’s Day exhibition that opens tonight at DiVerse gallery, 54 Angove street, North Perth. A number of the works are on ironing boards so this work will fit right in.
It can be a passing salute to my great Grandmother, Jane, bringing up seven children in a canvas hut on the outskirts of Mt Magnet (though she wouldn’t have had the electric iron, or an ironing board and she would have been wearing much more restrictive clothing and juggling a new baby....).
Anyway.. International Womens Day is well worth celebrating and cheers to all the women and supporters of women in my life.
